Hey there, wrote a little ditty about an Organization member I happen to like, figured with its brevity, this would be a good place for it. Enjoy.
Title: Leashed (alternate title: Berserker)
Word Count: 468
Characters: Saix
Notes: Just a look into Saix's... er... welcome... into Organization XIII
Spoilers: Beyond the existences of the Organization members? None, really.
He remembers his life as a human. From the beginning, he had a short fuse, and it took very little to get him to explode in his rage. Over time, he learned to temper his rage, bottle it within, until he was allowed to let loose. And, during those times, it was always a bad idea to be in front of him. Or behind him. Hell, if you were anywhere within his line of sight, or hearing range, or if he could even smell you, your life was essentially forfeit.
Saix speaks coolly and calmly. His loyalty and intelligence are nearly unsurpassed. He toys with his prey before it begs for the death he mercifully grants.
But Xemnas didn’t see that at first.
When Saix first came to the World that Never Was, minus his heart, the first trait he displayed was neither his smooth voice nor his taciturn cruelty. Instead, he flew into his instinctual Berserker rage, bludgeoning Heartless and Nobody alike in his blind fury.
It had been a rare feat that anything could best either Xigbar or Xaldin in battle. Both of them were required to subdue Saix, and Xigbar’s face retains souvenirs of that showdown. When Xemnas first got a good look at the creature that caused such destruction in his city, four of Xaldin’s lances were pinning his arms and legs into the concrete below, and still he ignored the pain and incoherently seethed and fought to free himself. Xemnas simply let him continue until he passed out from exhaustion.
His recovery had made all uneasy. Zexion would refuse to be in the same room as the wild man. Vexen was refused that luxury, forced to play doctor to the savage man, but he insisted that Lexaeus be present as a bodyguard. Finally, Xemnas approached Saix, bringing food and drink, plying the intellectual present in the madman to do business. Xemnas, above all of the Nobodies, sought power for himself, and power was what this psychotic clearly possessed.
Saix was easily convinced once his mind returned to him. He would be given a purpose, given victims, given a chance to let loose and be who he truly was. And all that Xemnas asked in return? That Saix, upon becoming one of their Organization, become bonded to the moon.
Of course, in doing so, Xemnas ensured that the only way Saix could enter that Berserker rage that nearly ruined the Dark City was to take power from the moon of the World that Never Was, the ever-growing representation of Kingdom Hearts. And, as with all aspects of that World, the moon and its power bowed to Xemnas’s will.
Saix may be intelligent and cruel, but just beneath his stony exterior is an uncontrollable beast. Xemnas is no fool. He keeps that beast on a short chain.
