Title: Late Knowledge
Words: 583 [I know, I'm sorry! ._.]
Notes: AU, I guess. But I guess it's easy not to see it like that. Shounen-ai, plzkthx. I am extremely sorry about the long-ness of it all. ._. It totally turns off a person, huh? Sorry.... I purposefully didn't write the ending, just to let it up to your imagination. [I like angsty-ness, so you kind of tell what fate I chose, huh? XD]
"I like Olette now."
It was these words that shattered his world. Fragments of memories lay like broken glass around him, daring him to move, to do anything but stand like a child in the middle of the complicated mess. He didn't want to be blamed, but he knew that he would; he would blame himself, his faults and fears. After all, there was nothing to live for, not without-
"Hey, Seifer! You wanted to see me?" the teen asked as he rushed up, breath forming mist before his lips as he panted lightly. He stopped in front of the taller male, smiling as brightly as he could. The other teen looked into his eyes, deadlocked as his mouth formed a frown.
"I want to break up," was his simple reply. The younger boy stopped, breath caught in his throat. What was he hearing? This wasn't the Seifer he knew. The Seifer he knew loved him, cared for him, no matter what-
He closed his eyes tightly, seeing white stars in the darkness. He couldn't get the words out of his mind, that childish sense of doubt that maybe- just maybe- he was kidding. No wonder Seifer didn't like him anymore- he was was so clingy, so dependent on others. Clenching his fists, he dug his fingernails into his palms in hopes it would stop the memory.
"What?" he asked, shocked, finally coming out of his stupor. He couldn't believe his ears. Maybe it was all a lie, a ruse to get him in a shocked state, he told himself over and over. After all, Seifer wouldn't do this to him. He loved him.
"I don't think we should date anymore." Seifer repeated coolly, stoic expression on his face. No mocking smirk, no teasing eyes. He was dead; their love was dead, and he couldn't figure out how to fix it.
Tears were stinging at his eyes, lump forming in his throat. He knew he had brought this upon himself. He had trusted Seifer, and that was his downfall. Now he had nothing; he had no one, now that Seifer left. He could imagine himself plunging downwards against the chilling wind, could imagine himself landing on the ground with a sickening thud. All he wanted were those fleeting moments to think of the true smiles, the true laughs. He wanted every trace of happiness they had shared, for he knew he would never have them again.
"Why not?!" yelled the teen, voice chocking. He could feel hot tears making their way down his cheeks, but he ignored them. He didn't understand why. He knew he didn't want to know more, but he couldn't help himself. He had to know. He needed to!
"I like Ole-"
He stepped forward, peering over the side of the building with dead eyes. He knew he had died already, when Seifer had said those words. His heart had been stolen, and there was no replacement to mend the wounds. Voices reached up to his spot, taking a hold of his neck and snapping it. Those voices, those cheerful, happy voices were killing him. He wanted them to stop.
"Hayner! Don't do it!"
He turned. Brown met an extraordinary blue. He wasn't supposed to be here. No one was supposed to be here during school hours, so why was he there...? He took a step forward.
"I love you!"
His eyes widened.
"Don't leave me, please!"
His foot slipped and he felt himself falling backwards, hands trying to grab onto something, anything, to stop himself. No, not now, not after he knew about-
"Roxas!"
