Challenge: None
Title: Spoony Bard
Author: Rynne
Rating: PG
Summary: Donald tries to goad Demyx into fighting without those blasted water forms.
Spoilers: For KH2
Notes: ...I'm sorry. Except I'm not. *g* But Demyx would have made such a good Edward... Knowledge of Final Fantasy IV, while not required, is helpful to getting the joke.
Donald quacked in annoyance as he called lightning down on yet another of those strange water forms called by the member of Organization XIII. He saw Goofy swing his shield at one, then turned his head and watched as Sora gleefully grabbed one that looked like a musical note and swung it around, dissipating several forms in his path.
But in the center of the room was the Nobody, who stole the Olympus stone and had to check his notes for orders and called Sora Roxas, and who had the infernal gall to calmly stand there and play his weird-looking instrument while forms made of water did his fighting.
Narrowing his eyes, Donald raised his staff, preparing another round of lightning that would this time strike the Nobody. "YOU SPOONY BARD!" he yelled. "IF YOU'RE GOING TO FIGHT US, FIGHT US!"
His hands stilling on the strings, the Nobody raised his head and blinked at Donald, just as Donald let loose the lightning. He stepped back, just as the lightning hit and blackened the spot in front of him. Donald would have growled with frustration, but just then he noticed that the room was now empty of water forms, and Sora was raising his Keyblade threateningly against the Nobody himself.
But before Sora or Donald could do anything, the Nobody said, "Roxas, come back to us," and disappeared into a pool of darkness.

Date: 2006-07-27 11:24 am (UTC)Anyway, Donald's fun. People rarely write about him, but he seemed the most likely to yell that kind of insult, so I used him. But he's still fun--and there's more to him than the loudmouthed duck, which is mostly what I see, if I find a fic that happens to have him in it. I'm working on a longer fic that has more facets of him, but that probably won't be done soon. *sigh*
I hadn't consciously thought about that sense of sadness, but since I am saddened by our heroes' complete ignorance of the Nobodies' humanity, I'm not surprised something like that would come across.
Thanks for the comment! :D
