Jan. 10th, 2005 12:13 amI'm really posting on a whim; I really don't post short stuff like this. So sorry for the late entry. O_o;;
Challenge: Winter
Title: Our Death Prempts Our Rebirth
Word Count: 232
The air was warm as it always been, no hint of the frost that plagued others at this time of the year.
No, the season named winter never dared to interrupt the island’s eternal summer, intimidated by the overpowering sun that hung protectively in the sky. So she felt no chill except a slight southerly breeze as she dug her feet into the pearl white sand, her shoes lay discarded by her side.
She had missed this feeling, this feeling of calm content. This constant feeling of reassurance that she had once longed to get away from for so long, only to cherish so deeply now.
Falling back against the sand with a quiet thump, she smiled as she closed her azure eyes so they no longer reflected the afternoon sky, breathing in salty air down into her lungs. She felt like she could lay there forever as nature sang her lullaby of the ages.
…How spoiled she was, relishing in something that he was no longer to enjoy with her. Tears came to her eyes at thought that he was no longer safe under that unbreakable barrier of ignorant bliss, that barrier they broke in what seemed all so long ago, that barrier they were currently paying the consequences for.
“Sora,” She whispered, reaching her hand up as dusk began to filtered through the sky, “when will our barren winter end?”
