Challenge: [075] Dance
Title: Red Flower
Word count: 377
Spoilers: None
Notes: Sometime during KH2 (or even KH1, really)
Sora, Donald and Goofy are trying to get Mowgli to the Man village, but the plan continues to hit new snags. The most recent is King Louie. Enjoy!
The problem with this kid, Donald decided, was the uncanny ability to get into trouble. Most of the time it wasn't even his fault.
He had a lot in common with Sora, really.
"I wanna be a man, man-cub,
and stroll right into town!"
Kaa had been annoying- and dangerous. He still squawked annoyance when someone brought up how close he'd come to winding up as dinner. The elephants hadn't been so bad, but still- problematic.
"And be just like the other men-
I'm tired of monkeyin' around!"
Sora had tried to advocate how great it was to live with other Men and be with your own kind- but how could Mowgli really believe him? He looked like a chimpanzee and he hung out with a toucan and a bear. Baloo had a good heart, really, but his constant encouragement that Mowgli stay in the jungle wasn't helping.
"Ohhhh~ oobey-do!
(Boo-sha-wee)
I wanna be like you-hoo-hoo!
(Bap! Doobie-shoo-we!)"
Donald perched in the tree, waiting with Bagheera for the best opportunity to pull their guys out. Sora had slipped in with the other monkeys easily- now he was ginning, moving to the music... probably forgetting about their purpose in being here- not even aware that the lyrics of 'King' Louie's little song were getting more and more suspicious as he went along.
"I wanna walk like you! (che!)
Talk like you! (che!)
Too-hoo-oo~"
He wanted to laugh at the sight of Baloo and Goofy in their 'disguises', also having a good old time in the thick of the chimps. Donald was hoping against hope that Jiminy would get a picture of this. Given the cricket's penchant for mischief, he figured the odds were good.
He would print it, and frame it, and hang it on the wall of Disney Castle's main corridor.
And then the King would make him take it down- but he'd get to laugh at it while it was still there!
"You'll see it's true-hoo-hoo-
(Shoobie-doo-wee!)
An ape like me-he-hee~
(Bap! Doobie-shoo-we!)
Can learn to be! (Bap!)
Hu-uuu-umen~
Too-oo-oo~!”
Donald focused as King Louie went on (and on- catchy tune, but still, couldn’t he speed things up?).
He and Bagheera grimaced as the orangutan’s plot was revealed.
Louie wanted fire?
Donald would give him fire.

Date: 2006-09-08 07:32 pm (UTC)I'm a total Disney fangirl and love to see people do them justice by writing them in character, put them in new situations, and still retain that childlike innocence which Kingdom Hearts did perfectly so that's why I love it.
And that's why I love your stories. (I've read some of your other works Xaldin/Beast/Belle is total annihilation love) They're odd and off the wall but stay true to the characters and are very interesting pieces of work.

*laughing~* XD
Thank you thank you. :D
I love the joyful innocence that the games hang onto. There's laughter without bitterness and happy endings and forgiveness and (so many things that FF doesn't manage to do without angst~! XD) I love to use that in my KH drabbles. :D
*winks* I've got a little voice in the back of my mind that warns me when I'm trying to make a character act out of their core personality (even considering the context). ^^ It's my OOC gauge, and ignore it at my own peril.
Thanks!

Date: 2006-09-09 09:50 pm (UTC)The characters are also very strong, Yay for strong female leads! And yay for talking utensils.(Always made me laugh to think of the forks/spoons being alive)
Really, I'm not this silly when writing comments, but talking about Beauty and the Beast makes me act this way.
Did you write any Beauty and the Beast drabbles? If so, I would like to read them.

Date: 2006-09-09 04:08 am (UTC)This challenge was easy for me- I wanted to do something with a film that I hadn't seen done before, and the image of the monkeys dancing with Mowgli jumped right into my mind. :D
Thank you!
*laughs* I tried to use Sora for narration at first, but Donald glared at me until I realized he was the better choice.
