As the door to the light, to his carefree days and innocence closed to the look on Sora’s face, Riku sighed in defeat. He placed his hand upon the door now bathed in darkness. The teen was lost, his childhood, best friends and most importantly his innocence. It was all gone and that was why he’d given it all up. It was time for the silver haired boy to repent as his thoughts reflected upon the closing of the door.

In the last seconds of the opened door, he’d left his childhood with Sora and decided to become a man. The wind and eeriness of the world of darkness didn’t deter him. Instead Riku embraced it. Perhaps, this was what had made him feel like such a martyr.

He knew it now. That he’d gone about it all wrong. The way that his best friend had gone about everything in a more pure way made more sense to him now when compared to the darker route that he had chosen. All that the teen could see in his once brilliant plan was now tragic flaw after tragic flaw.

It was for the best that he’d lost and hadn’t succeeded. All that really mattered in the end was that Kairi – and Sora – was safe.

For that, Riku would give up everything to ensure his closest friends were safe.
