They say the heart is where we hold the people closest to us. Our most precious and most cherished memories, carefully kept and stored away where we'll always be sure to find them.

But even the brightest memories can begin to fade. One day you dust them off to find the colors washed away, and the faces are no longer those of the people you once knew. Frozen for an instant, trapped in time; they don't look different, but somehow, they've changed. And you know that you can never go back.

It wasn't hard to see; everyone had noticed it. Anyone who had known him at all, however briefly - all of them could tell. They could see the way his smile had dimmed, how his laughter had become rough and worn around the edges. And they couldn't help but feel the way his eyes seemed to look right through them, how that gentle blue had become cold and far away - much too old for the eyes of one so young.

What had returned to them was not Sora - Sora was gone. He was completely lost to them now, and probably always would be.

But this boy who looked like him and talked like him... This boy was nothing more than a memory.
