He summoned us because, when he asked, you told him you wanted roses.

We came – over your bed, your body – dancing and delicate, enraptured
with your beauty.

You looked at us – at me – with those blue blue eyes and I thought
there was no better place to be, until I landed and could touch the
pale curve of your cheek.

I was the one who made you smile.

Yet you let him brush me aside to fall with the others – a fading
field of pink and satin – and lie cast away on the floor among all the
other discarded memories.
