It was an easy request: "Perhaps you could tell me your true name."

But without prior warning he was stripping down his hood and I found myself staring at the thing I discarded one sunset and a lifetime ago, vowing never to look upon it again: my face.

In a voice from my most torturous dreams, he answers: "It’s Ansem."

I feel suddenly cold.

My name. No, his name, yes: the name of that reviled man who flung me to the dark, who pitilessly oversaw my transformation into this…this creature I masquerade as now. Yes, yes—my body, my face, he forced me from it, tore it from my defenseless bones and wrapped it around himself like deceptive fog. He took it from me, as he took from me my name.

My name.

A-N-S-E-M.

I look into the sublunar gaze and I see myself there, the powerful and admired figure who once held the core of all worlds in his temperate hands: my golden eyes, my smoky skin, my commanding form—all raped from me by that abhorrent man of darkness who ravenously compelled me to surrender it all for this…this shell I possess now, this infuriating husk of worthless flesh in which I am mercilessly encased. I was powerful. I was loved and admired and I was wise—and he stole that from me, as he stole my name, as he stole the body which stands before me now a torturous mirror, reflecting only what has been inescapably lost…

I am laughing.

"It's an honor, Ansem."

Your wording here is just so so pretty. Most notably in the 'I look into the sublunar...' paragraph, each sentence slides into the next, and it reads with a very urgent, desperate, CRAZY tone. The sophisticated vocabulary reflects DiZ (who despite being a little off, was brilliant) very cleverly. Just... very nice, seriously. The wording for this must have taken forever.

^^ Thank you!!! And yeah, that's the view of DiZ I took, too: brilliantly insane... or insanely brilliant, whichever way you choose to view it. I love that you praised my language, because yeah, it took a long time. Some of the words came naturally to me, while others were searched for, and I tried to balance 'big words' with 'small words' and...well anyway, you see the result. Thanks so much again ♥♥♥
