In other news, it's Riku/Sora friendshipy... thing... centric. It's depressing, but I hope that doesn't turn people off. 8D;;that is if the length doesn't already
It had been one whole year.
It had been one year since he and Riku had talked. His mother had transferred him to a private school on one of the bigger, main islands, and with his part-time job and studying, Riku didn't have any time for Sora. Which was alright, considering Sora had moved on and grown up from his fifteen-year-old self.
That was why he was surprised when Riku had called him, telling him to meet him at his house and to pack an extra set of clothes. Confused but happy to hear from his friend again, he agreed and set off towards Riku's house.
Sora knew something was up the moment he stepped into the house. The air around him was thick, and there was an unnerving stench in the air. Riku's attitude was off as well as he stiffly led him upstairs to his mother's room.
Sora found out the reason as Riku opened her door.
He stared at her bloody corpse and open eyes as he fell backwards, hands covering his mouth to hold in a scream. Riku bent down and pressed his forehead against Sora's, staring into his eyes blankly.
"Let's run away together."
The brunette boy stared up at his friend before closing his eyes.
".... Okay."
They grabbed the money they could and fled, camping out in parks and abandoned buildings in different worlds. They had been laying in bed when Sora turned to face Riku.
"... Why did you tell me?"
Riku paused and closed his eyes.
"I like you."
Sora stared at him for a few more seconds before turning away. He suddenly felt Riku's arm around his waist, the other male's face buried into his back.
"...Riku...?"
"I'm a bad person, aren't I?"
Shocked by the question, Sora turned to face his friend once more. His eyes softened and he took Riku into his arms, allowing him to cry into his chest.
"Of course not."
Sora pressed his hand against Riku's forehead, the burn concerning him. He bent down, pulling the covers tighter around his friend.
"You have a fever. I'm going to go get medicine."
When Sora left the store, he clutched the bag nervously. 'We have so little money now. How are we going to keep going on?' he thought to himself. A bag caught the corner of his eye, and he turned, his eyes widening. He glanced around before reaching out.
"What took you so long?"
Riku sat up, staring at Sora worriedly. The boy looked at the ground, tears running down his cheeks as he dropped the stolen bag to his side. Riku quickly stood and approached the crying male, wrapping his arms around him.
"I don't know what to do anymore, Riku!"
"...Don't worry, I'll fix everything."
Sora stared up at the high school before turning to look at the older teen. RIku threw a rock at one of the windows on the first floor before climbing into the new entrance. Sora copied his actions, glancing around nervously.
"What are we doing here?"
Riku led him to the rooftop, where Sora immediately reached out to grasp his hand.
"Are we going to jump?"
The silver-haired male shook his head and let go of Sora's hand.
"I said I would fix it, right?"
Sora ran up to the rail, eyes wide with shock as he stared over the edge. He felt tears run down his cheeks.
"RIKU!!!"
--
Sora sat in his seat, smiling as Wakka bent over his table. They had been talking about Blitzball teams when he heard commotion from the other side of the room.
"No way! So Riku was innocent?!"
"Yeah! They caught the real criminal! They're showing it in the staff room!"
Sora looked down at his desk, hands clenched tightly as his body shook.
I'm a bad person, aren't I?
