kh_drabbleChallenge: [096] Delight
Title: Have Some Candy, Little Boy
Word count: 486
Spoilers: If you haven’t gotten past KH2’s prologue (Six days of Roxas). Fic timeframe is mostly KH1 and a bit pre-CoM.
Notes: Three boys, three different reactions. Dangerous sweets.
When they glanced over their shoulders at Sora, the Keyblade bearer was holding a box.
“Sora… where did you get that?” Donald asked suspiciously.
“In that room over there,” he said, pointing over his shoulder. “There had to be about a hundred of them.”
Goofy took the box and cautiously opened it. When nothing jumped out at them, Sora shifted the wax paper and reached in. Donald grimaced.
He pulled out a cube-shaped object which squished between his fingers.
“It looks like candy,” Goofy murmured. Deeper in the castle- a wolf howled.
Donald flinched, looked around nervously. “We should get going.”
Sora licked the candy.
“Uh… you might not wanna- Sora!”
He chewed, cheeks puffing out like a chipmunk’s, and made little noises of enjoyment.
“…It’s pretty good,” the boy grinned, licking his fingers. He reached for another piece, whined at Goofy when the knight threw them- tin and all, down the corridor.
“It might have evil magic in it- a-hyuck. You don’t know who made it!” He grabbed Sora’s arm when he would have turned to retrieve the candy. Donald grabbed Sora’s other arm- all in favor of leaving as quickly as possible.
They got to the Gummi jump point just as a sleigh pulled up at the castle’s entrance.

“What is this, Your Majesty?”
“Turkish Delight. I know little of boyish preferences, but I am told the sweet is quite enjoyable.” She would enchant this boy as she had Edmund, and gain more information regarding this possible ally.
Bright eyes fixed upon her. “…Thank you.”
Jadis kept her face perfectly kind- pleasant- as the emissary took up a piece of the candy and bit into it, then chewed and thoughtfully swallowed. “Do you like it?”
“It’s like nothing I’ve ever had before,” he murmured. Riku opened his mouth- and the tiny portal- again, pressed the candy into the Darkness between his teeth, and chewed nothing but air. If he wasn’t going to take candy from Maleficent, he sure as hell wouldn’t take it from the White Witch of Narnia.

Roxas came back through the portal, wiping confectioner’s sugar from his lips.
“Well?”
He looked at Xemnas. “I had to eat two boxes of it before she got to the point.” He tossed a piece of the gooey stuff to the Superior, who examined it with interest. “It didn’t do anything.”
“No petty craving such as this can match the deeper hunger within us,” Xemnas murmured.
“Then she asked for info about you and the Organization. I said what you told me to say.”
“Tell me of her battle preparations.”
“She’s got better numbers, and she said she killed the Lion- but there was hardly any Heartless presence in Narnia. She’s either stupid or overconfident and I think she's going to lose.”
“Truly?” Xemnas asked, a slight smirk gracing his lips.
Roxas quirked an eyebrow. “She tried to make me physically dependant on candy.”
