kh_drabblegrr, sorry this is so late - absolutely no time this past week. >.< i'll understand if it isn't a valid entry, but i figured i'd post it anyway.

notes: again with the leon/cloud-ness (not romantic, though); based on my conclusion that the first time they met after being separated would have been at the coliseum. really not that great, but oh well.
He was watched with mild curiosity as he scribbled his name effortlessly on the rough parchment. It was only after he had finished that he vaguely realized why.
"Leon, huh? Interesting choice."
Cloud's voice echoed in the small stone entryway. He paused, and let the pen drop back onto the large leather-bound book that recorded every fighter entered in the tournaments. He still felt that calm calculating gaze, examining, searching - for what, he wasn't sure. But somehow, it felt uneasy.
"And I suppose that's going to change what happened?"
The words were only slightly bitter, mocking - underneath, there was something almost close to pity. If he hadn't known better, it might have been sympathy. But he knew better than that. He turned to leave.
"No. It doesn't change anything." He resisted the urge to trace the familiar scar on his face - the thing he hated most. The one thing he couldn't hide.
"But it's easier," he finished quietly. He got no reply as he pushed through the double doors, leaving his companion with silence.
