Challenge 102 entry
Apr. 19th, 2007 01:31 pmChallenge: [102] - Crash
Title: Runs on Happy Faces
Word Count: 341
Spoilers: References all three games, but that's it.
Notes: This is a bit different for me, so I kudos to whoever guesses which "character" this is about. XD
Her first impression of him was not a good one. He was overconfident, overbearing, and so bad at it that she barely had time to register the jungle before she found herself in pieces.
Sure, they put her back together again. But that didn't mean she'd forgive him. She always knew she was meant for the company of kings' men, not amateurs. She worked hard getting them places, and what thanks did she get? Heartless blasting holes in her!
So she gave him trouble: responded a little too slowly to approaching asteroids, or gave an extra bump when landing. Just little bits of payback for getting smashed into ships or stuck in that gunk inside a whale.
But then, when things were at their worst, he was gone. For a long time, she was left drifting without a course or even a solid memory of him. It was dark, empty and endless out there, but worst of all, it was lonely. She remembered the crashes, but now they didn't seem so horrible. They hurt and were inconvenient, but the one thing she did remember was that he always had a happy face ready to get her going again. They'd blamed each other, but could never have gotten far without the other.
So she decided that, if she ever saw him again, she'd give him no more trouble. Crashes or no crashes.
And one day, she did remember. While drifting past a world of green jungles, she remembered that face full of enthusiasm once he had control, lasting right up until the panic and the nosedive. Just the memory of the smile gave her a bit of long-lost power.
She found him again, and almost fell to pieces at the reunion. She expected an angry face for the past trouble and then the long stretch of abandonment, but there was none of that. He was just thrilled to see her, too.
Because this time, they both knew better than to fight. She'd take any course they set, just for his happy face.

Date: 2007-04-20 05:06 pm (UTC)And yeah, the gummi ship was a pain in KH1, but I had tons of fun on the missions in KH2. XD And Hunter X kicked my ass sooo many times before I finally got him down. Three auto-regens on Falcon Peak = win.
And thank you! :D
