Title: Sometimes
Word Count: 229
Notes: I tried for a different writing style, not really sure how it turned out.
Sometimes we crash.
It can happen in a moment, or so this cricket's life has seen. The day to day routine, the normal pace, is thrown out when something terrible happens. Our world comes tumbling down and we're cast off to wherever fortune takes us.
Sometimes we're lucky -- an ink blot nearly obliterated the word -- but most times we're not.
Just for a moment we meet a stranger that we wouldn't talk to any other time, except to give the time of day. But they're crashing as we are. We catch each other and stop the fall.
Sometimes for the better, and sometimes... -- hesitation before writing down the belief -- well, not everything can end the way we want it to.
We help each other. That's what friends do. From a distance or so close to the heart that we never realize it, moments like these will always happen.
Sometimes when we crash into each other, we can land with either a soft fall or a violent impact.
Jiminy put aside his notebook, rubbed his tired eyes. The others were asleep -- perched on Goofy's hat the cricket could see across the field they were resting in. He didn't know why he wrote that thought down in his journal, an impulsive gesture.
Where they were coming from, where they were going to, Jiminy still felt they were crashing with no end in sight.
