Co-op Drabble
Apr. 25th, 2007 10:16 pmTitle: Feminine Side?
Word Count: 430
Spoilers: If you don’t know who Ansem’s six apprentices are/were.
Notes: So a while ago I was talking with
osmandias and we had an idea. ‘What if Xehanort and the other apprentices had never succumbed to darkness?’ The result is this AU here. Some of you may already have seen it- but we're always adding!
Poor Even. They have enough ways to mess with him when he doesn’t give them ammunition.
"I've decided to hire a governness for Kairi."
Sometimes Even appreciated their Lord's habit of jumping right into a topic- other times, when the concept had not even a nodding acquaintance with the previous one, it aggravated him to no end. As a teenager, he'd suspected Ansem did it on purpose- to test their ability to shift gears in mid-conversation. Either that, or it amused him to watch them fumble and make odd faces.
Such as the one Ienzo was making now.
"Does she need one?" Xehanort asked. The white-haired apprentice looked curious, interested, but not overly concerned.
"It has come to my attention that we are not the most apt teachers with regard to being a young woman," Ansem murmured, giving them a wry smirk.
Even stabbed at Braig's hand with his pen (and missed) as the older apprentice stole a sheet from his notebook- an empty one, thankfully.
"We don't have the right equipment," Braig shrugged, scribbling something on the page.
"Will this interfere with her studies?" Ienzo murmured.
"Did you not say just last week that you lacked the time needed for your own projects?" Ansem reminded. His tone was mild, but Ienzo blushed and nearly glared.
"I wasn't complaining about that."
"How did Kairi react?" Dilan cut into anything else Ienzo might have said.
"She sees the logic in it," Ansem said, "and she is always eager to learn."
Even tsked and glared at Braig, who handed back half of the confiscated paper. "I don't see the reason for it, really- I know everything about feminine as well as masculine body functions, I can answer any questions she may have about ovulation, the menstrual cycle-" and that's as far as he got before Xehanort gave him a distressed look and Braig snatched his own notebook away to begin hitting him with it.
"But you are still," Elaeus said calmly as Even grappled with Braig, "a man, Even. I imagine there is knowledge of a feminine nature that none of us will think to tell her."
"Unless there are things about your gender orientation that you've neglected to tell us," Dilan said mildly. "Should we call you 'Evelyn' now?"
Even finally retrieved the book, kicked Braig out of his chair, and glared around the room. He refused to dignify the suggestion with an answer. Braig got up, dusted off his lab coat, and met Ansem's amused look.
"Do we get a say on who gets hired?"
"Of course."
"Good, because I saw this movie once-"
Even groaned. Braig waved a hand at him.
"Shut up, Evelyn."

Date: 2007-04-26 07:23 am (UTC)I don't know why, but my first thought was that the governess would be Edea. Or possibly Lulu. Or, for pure, unadulterated lulz, Jenova. Or, or. . . I'ma shut up now.

Date: 2007-05-02 04:53 pm (UTC)XD Mrs. Doubtfire. In the drabble after this one, the other apprentices complain about his groping of the prospective nannies.
"That's no woman, baby~ it's a maaaaaaaaaaan, man!"
Thanks!
