“It’s been raining a lot lately,” she muses as the water drops beat down at her feet, dusting across the toes of her boots and making her laugh when they touch her skin.

Squall merely nods, leaning against the post of the stone gazebo they had taken shelter under from the sudden storm, arms crossed across his chest. He didn’t know why he had agreed to take this walk in the first place, but here they were, caught in the middle of the flower gardens.

It was enough to drive a normal person crazy. He mentally makes a note to be thankful he wasn’t normal.

Until she turns, and the smile on her face lights up the green of her eyes, and he finds himself the same as everyone else who’s ever fallen in love with the perfect girl.

The perfect girl who already loved another.
