Sora sat on the paopu tree, swinging his legs and watching the calm waves roll back and forth, starfilled, dark blue stretching out around the island endlessly...around them...as if any minute they would be swallowed...
Softly, he said, "They don't like you...they don't trust you..."
"I know," said Riku. "It'll work out, Sora. Right now, though..."
"How can you be so calm, Riku? You and me...they think that you're the enemy! The minute they see you...!"
"They'll understand. They have to because I love you."
Sora sighed, though a smile tugged at his lips. "Sometimes I think we're doing something wrong...
As if all that Ansem did will always follow us and split us apart...
Sometimes I think...we'll never be together..."
"I feel that way too. Sometimes it's so painful that I want to lie down and give up the fight. But then...I think 'if I give up, then wouldn't I be giving the Heartless exactly what they wanted?' I have hope because you're still alive...I keep hoping that you still love..."
"I do love you, Riku. I never stopped. Never."
They moved closer together, Sora moving to kiss Riku...
And then Sora woke up.
