Notes: Guess spoilers for the second game and some speculation?
"I'm Nobody! Who are you? Are you Nobody, too?"
--Emily Dickinson
They were and then they simply weren't anymore. They remembered, oh--that was the easy part and that was what made them what they were now. But...things were different. Something was missing.
Their leader, the one that started this all, realized that since the people they had been were gone, they needed new idenities, new names and roles. He observed the five scientists that followed him into this experiment, five other minds that created a new sort of life out of the ashes of the old.
He named them all, twisting their original names and giving them new ones. His was his own private joke, of course. The leader that had started their own research was gone and he took the role now. He discarded the hated name that had overtaken him and chose a new one.
Xemnas then named Braig and Ienzo and the others in turn. Where the scientists once stood, there were now Zexion and Vexen and Lexeaus...Xigbar and Xaldin.
All were different now, their minds and magic twisted all up inside of them, spilling out and trying to fill that echoing space where hearts once resided. Neither dark nor light and stronger than both.
It was finally Xemnas who voiced their name.
Nobody.
