Title: For Us
Word Count: 370
Spoilers: For KH, maybe :|
Rating: PG
Summary: Consumption by the darkness is a transition: From light to dark, pleasant to unpleasant, craving the foul to craving the pure.
Notes: This came out Ayn Rand-ish. I don't think I've ever seen fic about my favorite trio from Nightmare Before Christmas. :x
Never mind our real hearts. There are plenty here for us to take, plenty that are so much more appetizing than ours. Delicious. We'll tear them apart like old, rotten scabs; we'll break through the fresh and helpless pink skin and rip it right out of them. They taste like buttery caramel candies, hearts.
Darkness is already snatching away our selves. We cannot remember faces, only heartbeats and smells. Our old master's heart was decaying and disgusting, already corrupted and no longer bearing the sweet, tangy scent we crave so much. Only the really wild ones would ever want to take such a dreadful thing.
It probably tastes like bugs, anyway.
No, we are more interested in the heart that smells like peppermints and smiles, a heart whose ancient wisdom we can taste from here. Its flavor sticks to us like warm candy melting on our claws; if we had mouths they would be hanging open in savage desire.
We must have it. But his heart and body are large; we cannot take him down by ourselves. We will gather the wild ones- surely they sense it too- but oh, when we get that peppermint heart, we will not share with those lesser things.
It will be for us three only.
We hear a sharp intake of breath, and we smell a new heart approaching. We have run into that Key. The Key's heart thumps in our heads, its pace quickening as it draws near, as it notices us. Its scent is an explosion of sweet and sour, like fresh lemon candy that spreads across our nonexistent tongues. We cannot help but wonder, if it too was lost at some point.
The Key is irresistible; we can no longer smell the peppermint heart as our instincts overcome us, and we claw excitedly at this new, delectable treat.
It's that Key That heart. Whatever senses we have left are drowned out by our furious instincts, our desire to make that delicious heart ours.
We know that the three of us are no match for it. The Key will destroy us surely, and as the blade swipes across our bodies, the only thing we will remember is our insatiable hunger.

Very nice work.
