kh_drabble Challenge: Lullaby
Title: The Music of the Night
Word Count: 216
Warning/Notes: Spoiler Alerts for the first part of the Game.
He stood there watching as his friend ran up to him, a pang of affection coming into his heart until the words came out from his friend,
"Where's Kairi!? I thought she was with you."
The darkness in his heart soared and took hold of him, wrapping its strong tendrils around his emotions. Kairi. She had always come first for him. Never about him. Never about his best friend. Kairi. He repeated the words that the Darkness had told him to Sora and held out his hand to him. Take it. His mind mentally willed. Join me. Just a little bit more. Stretch. Jump. You know you want to! Riku screamed at Sora within his mind before he was swallowed into the Darkness.
It was so comfortable. The waves of Darkness that wrapped around him were comforting. Gently, the Darkness surrounds him, rocking his body in slow motion. Their song was so sweet and intoxicating, lulling him with their melody of false hope and assurance. With each note that the Darkness sang, it lulled him deeper into his complacency, his weakness and his yearnings. The lullaby of Darkness swept into his consciousness, turning his competitiveness into vindictiveness, turning his hopes into nightmares. Bit by bit, he fell deeper and deeper into sleep. The sleep of Darkness.
