Challenge: [162] Another perspective
Title: Addict's Withdraw
Word Count: 275
Summary: Focuses on what was once the main villain and how she was (almost) forgotten. Please note that NO drugs are actually used in the drabble.

There are those who say power corrupts. Others claim it addicts. Well, when you suddenly lose that power, when it is snatched away by one who deems himself better, smarter and altogether more worthy than you, what happens? What do you do? What, as the villain, do those who call themselves heroes expect you to do? Will this so-called corruption reverse, banishing the previously immanent onslaught of darkness, or will it only deepen, like an addict's withdraw, perhaps from power? In a weaker mind, the resulting confusion may destroy the last remnants of reason.

Maleficent was not thinking of darkness, corruption, or even the possibility for redemption as she aided the silly key-bearer and his little posse of friends. One fairly simple word could sum up her motives for helping her previous enemies: revenge. Or, more specifically, revenge of the addict's withdraw from power. Those disgraceful nobodies could use a lesson in humility, and if those silly characters are the ones to administer it, fine. Because no one... NO ONE... calls himself "Superior" to the beast whole worlds used to regard as the epitome of evil. How dare he? Yes, revenge was what Maleficent had going through her mind. She wanted to strike Xemnas where it would hurt, and she believed she had just the plan to do it. Those children annoy him, and could possibly, one day, defeat him, ridding the worlds of his existence forever, and hopefully returning the power of darkness to her alone.

No matter how you look at it, she had no kindness, and no compassion ever motivated her. In some cases, a different perspective can only muddle the truth.

An interesting thought. I've always loved toying with exactly why Maleficent helped Sora and the gang the way she did.

Maleficent is one of the all-time classic villains isn't she? I really like your conclusion to this.
