Title: The Battle for Everything
Word Count: 158
Note: The words as they came out of my head, with no planning whatsoever. Whee. That’s the fun of drabbles. <3
The Battle for Everything
There was nothing left.
He had thrown his heart and soul and spirit into the battle, poured every last inch of his will into crushing the Heartless. He always thought that, maybe, if he kept trying, if the Keyblade swung fast enough and if the bodies piled higher and higher, maybe it’d be okay.
Maybe he’d save one life, one soul, one heart, and everything would be okay.
But nothing seems worth saving anymore. The world has broken, his friends are scattered, and maybe it wasn’t worth fighting for anyway.
Until Kairi returned, and he saw her smile and her beauty and he remembered how fragile happiness was.
He picked up the Keyblade and he picked up the fight, pulling on the threads of fate. Maybe they could be beaten. Maybe, with her, he could build a perfect place of light and joy, and there would be no darkness, no pain, and nothing would be fragile ever again.
