They writhe beneath him, twisted blackened hunks of steel and flesh – buildings, people - now nearly indistinguishable from one another amidst the smoke and choking stench of darkness. Too late did they realize what terror he’d brought among them, what they’d brought upon themselves. Too late did the old sage learn of his mistake in allowing such an abomination to proceed - far too late to save the five who, in their childish enthusiasm, had looked to him for guidance.

Now he had but to watch as his plague, his legacy spilled forth into the streets, snuffing out human existence as it sought to devour the very heart of this world.

They would call him “Seeker of Darkness,” and one by one, countless worlds would fall to ruin in wake of this catastrophe. And they would wonder why he had not saved them.
