Challenge [189]: Poker Face
Title: Bluffing

Notes: I learned The Scientist by Coldplay on piano while I wrote this. xD



He puts on the big show.

Smiles and happy faces, he'll assure you he's ready for anything. He'll cut through armies of shadow and nothing. He'd do anything for his friends. He's always got a confident grin, a heroic pose and a bright look in his eye.

But it's a lie.

Yes, he's devoted to the ones close to him. Yes, he's prepared to fight for what he believes in.

But the smiles, the happiness...

He can recall vividly the way he felt, sitting on a lonely beach in the Realm of Darkness with someone he knows understands his true self more than anyone else can comprehend. The moment he realizes he's not a little kid anymore, he's not a cheerful, naive child but something more mature, darker, is the moment the mask truly goes up.

Sometimes, others will notice, his eyes reflect a deeper blue, a more troubled one. Sometimes he's not quite himself. But back up goes the bluff, and he's the bright sky again.

His poker face is perfect.

Goddamn. This is pure awesomeness. I love reading serious renditions of Sora. I've always had the impression that he's not as "happy smiles" as he leads people to believe. It's more Donald and Goofy who push him to be that way. I can completely see how the mask came off in the Realm of Darkness too, when he and Riku had that conversation. It just fits so well. This whole drabble just has such a sense of bittersweetness. But I'm rambling now. I love it.

Ha, your note... The Scientist is one of my favorite songs. I actually just saw them in concert last weekend. Okay, now I'm REALLY rambling. Wonderful drabble.

=O What? Really? Hurr, no, that's true, right? I am completely fixed upon the belief that he can't be cheerful all the time. Like, there must be some demons there too. o-o Yeah, Donald and Goofy... I mean, they did tell him he wasn't allowed to have an unhappy face if he was coming with them. Aha, I love rambles, it gives me more to reply to. :3
