Title: Heroics

Notes: I actually just wrote this like five minutes ago in reply to something breathless_dawn said. xD

He does the last thing he can do and allows himself to be pinned.
Summoning all -- or nothing -- of what's inside himself, he expands it, and they're blasted off with the force of the sun.
He grins to the kid, throws a confident "watch this" his way, but he's not confident at all. Suddenly he realizes he's feeling something. Feeling the fear of death, the regret that he never met his best friend again. And all of a sudden he feels like they really were best friends.
He's feeling a little bit of regret, but overall he's glad he's done this -- the kid can get through now. This is what needs to happen for him to succeed, and being helpful isn't so bad.
Maybe, next time, he'll try being a hero. He was a lousy villain, after all.
