Secret Santa 2009 Sign-Ups!

It's time of the year again! As Christmas draws near, kh_drabble is opening up its special one-month Secret Santa activity. This is the sign-up post, so please read the rules carefully before signing up.

To participate, you have to meet just ONE requirement: You have to be an ACTIVE member of the community. Meaning, I need TWO drabbles you have written in the year 2009.

"But how do I know how many drabbles I've written? You can't tell me to go and poke around in the calendar, right? I'd die of boredom!"

That's what the archives are for. Every drabble written has been memoried, and we can check as well. So if you meet the sole requirement of this SS, go ahead and put your name in! (This includes both challenges and misc. drabbles.)



In this post, all comments are screened. What we want you to do is to submit your name, your WORKING email address (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT) and your preferences for a drabble. Remember, this is kh_drabble not a comm for full-length fic or sentences, so the gifts would naturally be drabble-length (to the comm's rules). It's up to the writer to extend the gift (either by length of fic or number of drabbles) if they so wish - but please don't submit a short novella (even if you want to). Just write in the spirit of the community.

Your preferences should include character, pairing and themes/genres, and any additional notes that you want to add to your comment for your gifter, such as a liking for slash/het/bestiality/whatever. This is to ensure that your gift-writer knows what kind of fanfics you like to read.

Example for the request section:

NOTE: As we cannot hope to pair everyone up with their ideal writer and invariably there will be instances of "I can't write this fic because I don't write comedy/romance/het/slash/etc/etc", the preferences are there so that your gift-writer can try their best to fulfill ONE of each criteria based on your preferences. We're not perfect. We can't tell who writes for what genre most successfully.

The Request list will be CLOSED on November 30th 2009, 12 MIDNIGHT PST.

We'll send you your recipient's request via EMAIL (this is why it is IMPORTANT) so PLEASE check your email on December 1st for that very important challenge. If you did not receive the email, please don't be shy, email me (crimsoncookie [at] gmail [dot] com) to tell me that you haven't received your request.

YOU CANNOT CHOOSE YOUR GIFT-WRITER. That's the fun of having a Secret Santa, is it not?

The Secret Santa will run from Dec 1st 2009 to Dec 24th 2009. Send your gifts to me (crimsoncookie) via EMAIL so that I can consolidate all the drabbles into one HUGE post and post it on Christmas Day itself.

This also means: If you didn't write your gift-fic, YOU WILL NOT BE GETTING YOUR PRESENT. It's only fair. So please, please participate? It'll be fun and it's all goodwill, and you'll make someone really happy as well.

And there's really no excuse. If you guys can churn out a drabble a week...:x?


Normal weekly challenges will continue to run throughout this month-long challenge.

pinch-hitting is to fill in if someone doesn't get their gift written - if there's anyone left without a gift after the due date, i'll ask someone else to pinch-hit and write them a drabble. :)

ideally the name that is attached to your email. :) i have gmail, which uses the name rather than the address when i'm looking through my inbox.

Sorry if this is a silly question. To sign up, do we post a comment here? And to clarify the idea, does this mean that if I sign up, I'll be writing a gift for someone else and vice versa?

yes. :) post a comment here with your request (using the format given in the above post) - then on december first, i'll email you a gift recipient to write for, and your request will be sent for someone else to write.

Does the Christmas drabble you wrote for someone last year count as one of the required two for the year?

it does not. :/ you can, however, write a quick fifty-word challenge or non-challenge drabble before midnight, and that will count.

or, in your request, you can write a note to me solemnly swearing that you will write one during december, and promise you will absolutely finish your secret santa on time, and i will include your request in the secret santa. last-minute offer. ♥
