Title: Light Bulb Bugs
Word Count: 242
A/N: This one is MUCH happier than my last entry. If you're wondering where Riku is, well, I actually just couldn't imagine him doing this sort of thing. Oh, and I'm just going to assume they have fireflies and electricity. This takes place when Sora and Kairi are fairly young.
Kairi stood frozen, waiting for just the right moment. A light blinked in front of her and she instinctively cupped her hands around it. However, she wasn’t in time. When she opened her hands, even just a little, she found nothing there. She heard shuffling behind her and a loud clap. “Look Kairi!” Sora shouted. He held his hands out in front of her, a triumphant smile on his face. She peeked inside and saw a small light winking in and out. “You got one!” she said, smiling at him. He smiled back, basking in her praise.
She grabbed a jar from where it lay in the grass. Carefully she and Sora maneuvered the small bug from his hand to the jar. They quickly slapped the lid down so the bug would not escape. It winked back at them, but did not fight. “Catching lightning bugs is hard,” Kairi said.
“Lightning bugs?” questioned Sora, “I thought they were called fireflies.”
“Well, fires are more red than yellow and the bug’s light is yellow.”
“But lightning is in a zigzag shape.”
“Well, fires are in a weird shape too.” They looked down at the jar in Kairi’s hands. The bug merely blinked in response to their argument. “You know,” Kairi said thoughtfully, “Its light is more like a light bulb.”
Sora laughed. “So, it’s a light bulb bug then!” Kairi laughed along with him as they went back to catching light bulb bugs.
