Challenge: Beginnings
Title: Child's Play
Word Count: 212
Other: None. :D
Hollow Bastion has never been a place for small children, but the lifts snaking around inside and out of the castle, along with its many corridors, was enough to spark their curiosity, and it was there they first began to play.
Aerith has been looking for her friends for what feels like hours to a child’s mind, but when looking at the clock she would discover it has only been a quarter of an hour, and she continues her search.
Hide and seek is one of their favorites, and finding the boys will be her challenge today. The quiet manners of the two give them an advantage when it comes to games like this, but Aerith feels confident she knows them well enough by now to catch them soon.
She finds Squall first; the small boy crouched inconspicuously behind a boar-headed statue in a hall rarely visited nearly escaping her entirely. Her delighted laughter echoes around them, and he graces her with the tiny wisp of his own smile before joining her in the hunt.
Together they will look for Cloud, knowing well in their hearts that they will always be inseparable. After all, this is merely the beginning of their friendship, and they are oblivious to what lies ahead of them.
