"Long before you were born," her grandmother says, "there was a time when the worlds were threatened by darkness, when twisted creatures rose out of the shadows and consumed the hearts of people and even those of whole worlds.
"There was great need for a keyblade master then, but instead, it was only a young boy, not much older than yourself, someone who had never even held a keyblade before, who ended up defending the worlds and saving them from disappearing into darkness." She pinches the girl's cheek affectionately. "So you must always remember -- a strong, pure heart, even young and untested can make all the difference."
The girl beams at her grandmother, then hesitates, her blue eyes clouding with skepticism. "Is it all true, Grandma? Was there really a hero like that, and was he really just a boy?"
"Yes, dearest," Kairi replies to her granddaughter, her mind reaching back and back, so long ago, to conjure up the image of Sora's youthful, smiling face. "It's all true."
