Word Count: 355
Everyone was aware of Saix’s love affair with the moon. And why should he not adore her? She was the source of his power, the object of his obsession. The golden crown of his lunacy. His devotion had earned him his title "Luna Diviner." He was consumed with his queen.
But his mistress was a harsh one. Sapping his sanity, the one remnant of himself that was left to him, she took his reason as payment for the powers that had long ago been forced on him. As a reward for his required allegiance, she drained him of his free will, lapping up the last drops of his spirit for herself.
Her kisses were poison, her caresses toxic, but her torture brought relief, freedom, from the daily struggle to maintain his sanity. And for that he was grateful even as he cursed her power over him. Her lunacy was his sanity, and so she kept him addicted, bound to herself with golden chains of torment that dug deeper into his mind day by day.
He loved her with a bitter hatred. She was at once his torture and his salvation. The gift of her madness gave him momentary peace although it galled him to swallow it. She sung soft notes to his soul, gentle drops of silver water spun into a lullaby of delirium. Slowly driving him insane with the melody of madness, her every tone humming with cruel tenderness. With a glittering smile, she unlocked the beast within him. Snarling and snapping, she dragged him down into the pits of himself. Into the abyss of all he was doomed to become.
They were forever bound together, these two. He was her loyal watchdog, she his overbearing queen. The tortured hearts within her called out to that darkness within him. The darkness that would not allow him to do other than adore her, drowning out the shreds of his soul that still despised her stranglehold.
She was his goddess and his curse. His drug and his doom. She was the embodiment of his hell and the ecstasy of his heaven.
Yes.
Saix loved the moon.
