NotesxDD this is all Snarechan's fault, she mentioned it and now I've had this stuck in my head ever since the beginning of the challenge.

It had sat there for three days straight, not moving, not attacking, just sitting. Sitting and cuddling the object of its affection closely.

Tidus, in a state of curiosity, had poked it once with a long stick. The creature hissed a bit at him before turning its back to the boy.

Selphie had attempted to make "contact" with the creature. It didn't appreciate that too much and the small shadow took to hiding under the bent paopu tree, caressing the inanimate object and making...

purring noises.

This kept the children's attention for a while, until that fateful day.

It had been at least a week since this particular shadow heartless had arrived at the Islands, months pass the sealing of Kingdom Hearts. It had taken rather quickly to a paopu fruit and had since been sitting on that tiny islet, holding it and making strange sounds that could only be signs of affection.

The paopu had, as all fruit tends to do, rotted. And as the Shadow ran a clawed finger over the normally thick skin, it gave way, oozing spoiled juices onto the dirt.

As odd as it had been to see an obsessed heartless, it was far stranger to watch one cry.
