Challenge: Odd Pairings (Second Entry)
Title: In Death
Word Count: 388 (Really pushing it...)
A/N: Another last minute drabble. Here's an idea I've head spinning around in my head for a while. It didn't come out quite as I wanted it, but it's ok. CoM spoilers.

It was cold. Though, that was to be expected. She was, after all, dead. Was this all death was? A cold and dark place? She smirked. It wasn’t all that different from the castle. Both were cold, although the castle wasn’t nearly so dark. The white walls gave the illusion of happiness and cheer, but instead left Larxene feeling cold and even further in the dark.

“So, you’re here as well.” Larxene stiffened. A figure walked out of the shadows. It materialized into a tall female, who grinned as she approached. “Which brat was it?” the woman asked. Larxene knew what she meant. “The stupid, brown haired one,” she replied. The woman laughed, causing Larxene to step back, startled. “So, Riku’s old friend is still alive is he? Alive enough to kill you at least.” Her words angered Larxene.

“We may already be dead,” Larxene said, preparing for a fight, “but I won’t hesitate to kill you again.” The woman merely laughed harder, “There’s no point in that, you know.” The woman walked up to Larxene. Larxene grinned and thrust her weapon into the woman’s chest. The woman began to laugh again, as the weapon went right through her. “You see,” the woman said, “We don’t really exist.” The woman reached out her arm towards Larxene’s shoulder. Instead of the hand settling on her shoulder, it went through her. Larxene turned her head back to see the tips of the woman’s fingers coming out of her shoulder. Larxene jumped back and eyed the woman warily. “You’re a witch,” Larxene said.

“You could call me that,” the woman said, turning to look out into the black void. The woman turned back to Larxene. “You’re the first to come to this place.” Larxene relaxed slightly and lowered her weapons. There was no point to that anymore.

“Others have died too,” Larxene replied.

“True, but I have not seen them.”

“So, we’re alone then?” When the woman did not answer, Larxene moved to stand next to her. They both stared out into the void. That was death. This was death.

“My name is Maleficent.”

Larxene remained silent for a few moments before replying, “Larxene.” They continued to look out into the shadows. Neither spoke again after stating their names.

That was how they spent their eternity together, watching the unchanging void.
