Title: Commencement.
Word Count: 100.
Spoilers: BBS.
Characters: Xehanort.
Summary: The thing about a beginning is that it is often an end.
“I name you, Xehanort, Master of the Keyblade. May the light you bear ever shine to strengthen you.”
The light glinted through the windows off his Master’s – his former Master’s – Keyblade. He smiled, and she, who never smiled, returned it. He waited for a change to signal that he had conquered.
None came.
His smile remained, but within he raged. Years of his life spent, years, and for what? For an empty room and an old woman’s cracking smile? Was this the pinnacle of his achievement?
No. There was more. There had to be more. And he would find it.

Date: 2012-09-30 05:28 am (UTC)The thing with Xehanort that makes him terrible, IMO, is that his actions all begin from a recognizable, familiar, morally neutral place - we've all had that feeling on passing some milestone that we don't feel as different as we've been told we should - which he then takes to terrible, murderous, world-shattering extremes. There but for the grace of having a single solitary shred of empathy go I, et c.
