Challenge: [299] Birthday
Title: Daily Celebrations
Word Count: 110
Notes: Not entirely happy with the way I’ve written Luxord here. I find him to be much more elegant than I’ve been able to express while keeping this brief, but expanding it didn’t help either. Concrit welcomed if you have advice on this.

Of all the worlds he has visited on his work, Wonderland is the one Luxord finds the most comfortable.
Perhaps, he thinks, because the insanity of the place is acknowledged and embraced, rather than hidden behind a façade of civilized science.
Perhaps, he thinks, because he finds the concept of an un-birthday to be hilarious and, he admits to himself, bizarrely comforting.
Perhaps, he thinks, because there is a day to celebrate the second chances granted by an unexpected un-life.
Perhaps, he thinks, because an un-birthday is appropriate for such as he.
He hides his thoughts behinds his teacup, raising it in a salute as he smiles down the table.

Sadly, I can't think of anything to help - although he does seem sufficiently elegant to me? The image of him at an un-birthday party is lovely, too. I like it!

The image of a Nobody at an Un-Birthday party was what clicked in my brain first, and I've always wanted to see him loose in Wonderland because the imagery fits him to a T, so they combined into this. :)

seconding Spoke! This did come away as very elegant and Luxord would find the whole prospect of an un-birthday amusing. (I don't know about you, but I know I always have problems with orgy members like him, who we haven't really been given any kind of...well, anything to work off of)

This would be why I've never written any of them before. Part of why I really love 358/2 Days is because I love getting more perspective on them.

(I am also inordinately amused at the idea of calling them "orgy members." I am apparently twelve this evening.)

Comparing un-birthday to the nobodies and un-life was pretty clever, and I don't think you had any problems making him elegant. It was a nice read!

When I first read this, I thought of this one picture in the 358/2 Days manga, where Roxas is all “WTF” about Wonderland whilst Luxord sits back and has a cup of tea, clearly British at home. And yeah, I agree, I think that world would pretty much suit him perfectly.

I also think the structure works really well for him. I don’t know how well I can explain why, but I guess it’s because I see Luxord as being very analytical in a straightforward way that allows him to quickly assess situations with minimal fuss and take the best path for himself. Which here is basically just enjoying Wonderland for what it is. So, if that makes any sense, I think the simplicity and repetition make it flow very well.

I was totally unaware of that image in the manga, since I haven't read it. Knowing it is out there makes me happy. :)
