Challenge: Tragedy
Title: Maybe She's Crazy
Word Count: 236
Other: Spoilers for the end of the game.

No one ever believed her when she said the boys weren't dead. She'd tried over and over to console tearful mothers and silent fathers, to explain the way the world had been swallowed by darkness and reborn again from the light at the end of the universe, hidden behind a guilded door. They weren't dead, just not in this world. Ridiculous, they'd say, and usher her away.

Everyday she stood on the hill, went down to the shore, the ocean licking at her bare feet or school shoes as she stared out over the horizon, waiting. Tragic, they said, that the boys should die in that aweful storm -- the onl thing that anyone seemed to remember of the night when the Destiny Islands were swallowed by the darkness. You're wrong, she'd say, but the remnants of their raft were a more believable testimony, than the words of a girl who had just lost her two best friends.

No, they'll come back. Sora promised, she'd say, and it would only cause his mother to weep anew. She didn't hear the whispers that were made behind her back, when all she could hear was the sea against sand. She's lost it, they'd say, lost her sense of reality in her grief.

Tragic, they'd say, That two souls and one mind should be lost to a storm.
