Title: All that Jazz

Notes: Because Kingdom Hearts is not just Final Fantasy coolness and darkness, or Disney sweetness and light. It's a bit of both in lovely, mixed up helpings. Scat Cat and his band of merry musicians have a late night (early morning) jazz session in the alley outside Leon's bedroom.

Scat Cat and his band ran jazz tours around the three districts of Traverse Town, gathering a grand following of feline fans--and a rather angry following of disgruntled Town residents.

The morning after the band performed behind the abondoned house, Leon came down to the kitchen looking bleary eyed and incensed. He was greeted by the sight of a sixteen-year old ninja still in her pajamas, and a large orange tom cat prowling about her heels. The orange cat took one look at Leon, and then cautiously edged around so that the girl was between himself and the older man.

O'Malley came by every couple of weeks, Saturdays, because Yuffie was always the first one up on Saturdays for the early morning cartoons, and Yuffie would always let him in from his patterings on the outside window ledge. This Saturday morning there was a pink ceramic bowl half full of soggy corn flakes and soy milk which Yuffie had left up on the table, and Yuffie herself was busy pouring milk and cat food into two dishes.

"Tell Scat Cat," Leon said sweetly "that if he ever decides to play music outside my room at two in the morning again, I will personally wring his fat neck."

Yuffie turned around to stare at Leon. Then she tutted briskly. "Wow. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed."

"No. You just happen to sleep like the living dead."

"And you're a dog person anyway," Yuffie continued thoughtfully.

"If all cats are like those sorry excuses for musicians---then yes, I am."

"Want some cereal?"

"No. I feel like killing something."

He sat down at the table, and dropped his head onto his folded arms. He made mumbling sort of groaning noises under his mop of brown hair.

"Go back to sleep, Leon. It's a Saturday, and you look awful."

"I can't. I have to deliver some packages for Cid."

"That old fart," Yuffie said amiably. "Here, where are they? I'll do it for you."

Leon lifted his head up briefly to look at her, and then dropped it again. "Whatever." He waved his hand vaguely towards the counter by the door. "Over there."

"Righto." Yuffie finished feeding O'Malley, then downed the rest of her cereal. She dropped the bowl and spoon into the sink, then scampered off to dress properly. When she came back, she scooped up the parcels, then opened the door for the orange cat waiting for her. "Come on, kitty. Time to go."

I ♥ O'Malley. The Aristocats is one of my favorite Disney movies. And I like the way you portray Yuffie in this.

"No. I feel like killing something." That made me laugh, for some reason. XD

My only question is, why soy milk? *curious*

My family's dog is a Dalmatian. :D

I don't think those are silly reasons at all. I think it's interesting to add things like that when writing characters. It makes them more human and more believable.
