Title: Inspiration
Word Count: 387
Note: Waah, I haven't submitted anything here in months. I guess one can think this takes atleast a year before the game or even a few months. Just anytime before the game really.
The weather had been weird lately, two days before it had been windy, colder then usual, the day before had been hot, balmy and now today it had scheduled itself to be raining. He looked out at the rain covered window as a few drops from the roof splattered onto the smooth surface. Kairi was out with Selphie, the two had appointed themselves to do something girly, Sora wasn't around strangely when he called. Maybe it was a doctor's appointment?
In any hope he had nothing to do for the day; Wakka was out with Tidus, no doubt still probably playing blitzball even in this weather. Sitting on his bed, he looked dismally at his room, it almost seemed empty compared to Sora's and even Kairi's rooms, he really didn't stay home that often either. There were too many things to do outside then to stay cooped up at home. Daydreaming was an option but it really wasn't appealing at the moment, it seemed most of his imagination was geared toward practicing with his wooden sword (which was forbidden to use in the house) or dealing with sports. Not really exciting.
His mother came to check up on him after his time of staring off into space, clutching a small worn book in her hands, she gently closed the door, in hopes of not disturbing him just yet. And at the right moment, he gave a startled cry when she hugged him, dropping the book on the bed. The teenager gawped before trying to shove his smiling mother away. Her smile was still there, the faint traces of a laugh lingering, as she held out the book to him and suggested it to him.
She left then, a slight skip in her step, off to make lunch for him and herself. He studied the book, a dubious look on his face, as he looked at the cover trying to make out the lettering and looking at the back in hopes of text.
Shrugging – what harm could reading do?- he opened the book and began to read the work of fiction. The next day, back on the play island, on a day where everything smelled crisped and new, he was debating where or not to tell Sora and Kairi about his new aspiration to travel to another world.
