Challenge[53] Literature
Title: Poems
Word Count: 346
Characters/Pairings: Riku, Sora and brief Sora/Kairi
Spoilers: none
Note: enjoy!
“Oh summer’s purest delight…”
“…let me count the ways…”
“Hair spun gold like the sun…”
Sora paused to scratch his chin in thought at that last line, the girl wasn’t even blonde.
“That won’t make sense at all…”
“What won’t make sense?”
The second voice startled him and Sora struggled to balance himself between staying in the tree he took shelter in, and keeping the one book held firmly in his hands that he wouldn’t want to be caught dead with. It would just raise too much questions, not to mention how much of a commotion it could start.
“Nothing…just homework.” muttered the boy in the tree.
Riku only smiled as he leaned back against the trunk of the tree while crossing his arms in front of him. He waited a moment before giving the tree a strong kick in which a yelp was heard, and then some rustling of the branches and leaves.
Sora falls hanging in front of Riku up-side down by the vines, and the book of poems fell right into Riku’s awaiting hands. Riku skimmed through the pages of delicate tissue then gave his friend an awkward look.
Sora laughed nervously then just hung there with a sigh of defeat. The boy’s eyes were then reverted away and Riku knew exactly what got the other boy so interested in poems all of the sudden.
He was in love.
“Sora...” he gave the book back to the hanging boy gently, and offered him the brightest smile Sora had ever seen on Riku, that it was almost ghastly, but it gave him hope and comfort that Riku truly knew him and was thankful for that.
“Silly boy...just tell her how you feel, straight from the heart as you are. I guarantee you its better than any piece of Literature.” He said softly while prodding the other boy in the nose causing him to swing back a little. Sora smiled and found confidence within his best friend’s words, and soon enough, found that Riku was right.
As much as it pained the other boy later.
