Sometimes you just want the company of someone who understands you.
Aerith is fine but she's a girl still at heart, and she certainly isn't hardened to suffering like Leon is. Yuffie is fine but she's so... different, so full of sparks and bright with energy. Cid is too cynical, too centered, too stable. And Sora is too young, too hopeful, full of dreams and hopes and wishes.
And that's where Cloud comes in.
It's simple and easy to meet Cloud in the middle of Traverse Town and sit there and have a drink and then find somewhere quiet. Usually an alleyway. And then they share it all, all the burdens of daily life, share and give and take without a word, wrapped up in the heat and warmth and feeling of another.
It's not love, no, but it'll do.
