Challenge: {77} Martyr
Title: Air
Word Count: 229
Notes: My first thought was “I should write Riku” but I always write Riku and he’s pretty obvious for the theme. So…here’s Roxas instead. ^_^”
Xemnas said they had a cause. It was never said that “Some among us may die for this cause”, because no one foresaw it. Xemnas knew, he knew all right, that some of them would die, but to him the end justified the means. His means. Salvation promised to all though lusted after and intended for one.
That is not what this is about.
Roxas always had two fears: that he would die and that he wouldn’t die. And as it turns out, neither of these happened, but something worse did: he faded.
It was never his life to begin with, but it was ripped away. He was torn from the elements he belonged to and separated, used, lied to, beaten around, and then placed in a dollhouse for a twisted, revenge-obsessed man to play with.
Sora was light; Riku, dark. Axel was fire and Demyx was water and everyone had their element. Roxas was air not in the sense that Xaldin was wind, but that he was just…simply…air.
Air is intangible and undetectable unless there is a smell or force to add weight to it. Air is sucked in against its will, stripped of its components, and turned back out as something worse, something poisonous. Air is always there and so one forgets about it and continues breathing without a second thought.
And in the end, air is…nothing.
