Title Memories of the Edge
Characters Naminé
Rating G, AU
Spoilers Umm... not, really. But I do have to put my "notes" section under the cut because they contain spoilers. XD
Notes Uhh... You know, as a truthful inspection, this drabble doesn't equate to the physics of Nobodies and things like it, but! I like Naminé and thought she would be able to enter into Twilight Town um, outside?, of Kairi. So, I guess you could say it's AU. The whole thing with the ocean = Roxas is.... mega metaphorical.
She ran past the fountain, the houses, the train tracks, the walkway, all the way to rise above the town where she could look out and see what they saw. See what someone just like her saw, thinking he was a normal kid, in a normal, nowhere life. She saw the eternal sunset he saw. Always dusk, always red, the sun sat hanging on the breast of the sea, as she gazed down its shimmering, quivering waters. She nodded to the sun, as if telling it to hold still. She sat on the bench that faced the endless sea and the endless sunset, and pulled out a long sketchpad and pencils.
She worked, like she had before, and drew it out. The reds spilled over the oranges and yellows, cascading into the flat blue that was the ocean in her drawing of memories. She squinted into the sun to see it change, see the changing colours they saw. When she was finished, she carefully bent the paper along the perforation and tore gently, trying to make the smallest noise. She folded it in half, and wrote with a blue pencil:
"For Roxas: See you again soon ♥"
She placed her things together and stood up. She gazed over the railing, sighed, and smiled. Then she hung the recently created drawing over the edge and opened her hand.
The drawing twisted and floated on air, spinning ever downward toward the abyss that was the ocean. Like a bird, it fluttered against the wind rising off the rocky cliff. And then, at last, with a soft motion, it collided into the ocean sadly. It was tossed around in the tumultuous waves that crashed on the rocks, and tried to stay afloat. But alas, after a few minutes, it sank. Then she knew it had made its way to him. She ran back, down the rise, past the walkway, the train tracks, the houses, the fountain, all the way back from whence she came, and at last, disappeared in the air of dusk.
