Challenge: [084] Dust
Title: Static
Word Count: 242
Notes: Spoilers from KH2 a little? Yeah-- best to know if you've gotten past at least the first part of the game; possibly near the end of the game as well.
It was strange walking around the digital version of Twilight Town. Sora had been there before, of course—but he never ventured further than the basement of the mansion. It hadn't felt right at the time to go anywhere else; besides—they had a mission to complete and waltzing around a place that dug with sharp corners at his memories wasn't something that he had wanted to do at the time.
But now—it was weirdly silent; there wasn't the sound of children calling out to one another, the stores were empty—it was as if when Roxas was back with Sora, the town was no longer needed. The digital inhabitants of Twilight Town were abandoned, left to dust.
The program hadn't been fully maintained; really, there was no use for it anymore. Now and then fuzzy images of people appeared, a short-circuit of information that never fully formed again. Sora had to stop himself from reaching out at static-y images of Hayner, Pence and Olette, especially when they turned and smiled at him, whatever words they said lost in the fuzz of the broken controls.
Twilight Town had already slipped into the cracks of time and forgotten by most people; as Sora left the faded memories and empty streets, he couldn't bring himself to erase the digital version. With a lot of research and talking with the right people; Sora could bring Roxas's home and friends back from the ashes.

Date: 2006-11-25 04:15 am (UTC)I always did wonder about the rest of the virtual Twilight Town, and what had happened to it. (I even tried to go and explore it, but no, Squeenix wouldn't let me >_>;)
