Challenge: [089] No Good Deed
Title: Worth
Wordcount: 195
Notes: Second submission, hmmm...someday I'm really going to stop explicitly stating the challenge in my entries-- just not today. Anyway. Not especially original (^^;) Riku-centric fic for all! Spoilers for KH1.
When Riku opened the Door to Darkness, he destroyed countless hearts and lives and futures. And he was given the chance to leave, all he'd ever wanted, for doing it.
He kidnapped an innocent princess, next, and then he took a puppet child from it's beloved father-- for these cruel acts, he was given a Dark power he hadn't known he'd wanted and a Princess that he wasn't quite sure was his.
He betrayed a friend and left him alone to die with a defeated, but good, beast and thought nothing of it-- and for it he was given the last and final power, that now, he was quite sure he wanted.
Riku did only one good thing, helped to close the Door and save the world. But, maybe ironically, it's the lone good deed that he's not to be rewarded for-- instead he was separated from friends and would be forced through a dark, cruel labyrinth, designed only to hurt and destroy him.
But he smiles as Sora disappears from sight all the same and thinks that, hey maybe, one good deed's punishment is worth more then all the wicked deeds' rewards.
