Title: Numbers
Word Count: 224
Notes: Major spoilers for CoM
The first change was tentative, get-it-over-with quick, because Marluxia had given her the order and she had no reason but an imaginary conscience to make her disobey. Three childhood memories unlinked, a fourth altered, but just slightly. Now there was a little blonde girl standing not too far away as four-year-old Sora enjoyed his ice cream.
The next few were just as small, and at some point she started numbering them, just because numbers had a theme in this place, and she felt oddly left out without having one of her own. But at fourteen (that might have been her number), the changes she made stopped being assignments--now they were almost fun.
At eighteen, she attended Sora's tenth birthday party and he gave her an icing flower from his cake. At thirty-two, she was one of his closest friends. At fifty-seven, she gave him her good luck charm. At sixty, her other was little more than a shadow in the backdrop of his mind.
At ninety, he loved her, and she might have loved him, too.
One-Hundred was a special number, and a special memory: an innocent kiss on the cheek as he promised to stay by her side forever.
Instead, One-Hundred was when she showed him Kairi's face in place of her own.
