Title: Wires
Word Count: 304
Rating: PG
(anything else): Axel/Demyx. Some KH2 vague spoilers.

Written for the request-prompt "Wires".

"They said you've gotta come back," and the voice is soft, almost a whisper as the kid looks at him.
"Wasn't sure they knew I was gone," he replies, a lazy wave of one hand. The boy's eyes follow the movement, ever wary and Axel thinks to himself gotta stop thinking of him as a kid. "They send you for a reason?"

Demyx jumps, blinks, does a good impression of startled indignation, then wilts under the other man's gaze. "Guess they thought I could bring you back," he says.

Axel stares at him, letting his gaze pin the boy in place. He waits a long time, watching the quick, nervous rise and fall of the other's chest. Slowly he unfolds one arm, letting his fingers curl lazily into a summons, smiling as Demyx takes an involuntary step forward. Like a marionette, Axel thinks.

"They sent you," the Flurry says, "Because you're not worth anything to them. I wipe you out here, they don't care."

He watches the boy try out reactions, settling eventually for righteous denial. Axel steps in before he can reply, sliding the knife in deeper, pulling on the wires that make the boy dance.
"Your music won't save you now."

Demyx flinches, eyes narrowing, trying out pain. It's an expression he's good at and one he wears most often when he's trying a new ploy. "That's not it," he says. "They sent me because they know you won't hurt me. You can't. Not in any way."

Axel makes to speak, then pauses, working through the implications of the boy's words. By the time he's finished his thought he can hear the hiss and roar of the water coming for him and he realises he's hesitated too long right about the time it occurs to him that the wires go both ways.

Title: Crawling
Word Count: 423
Rating: PG
(anything else): Riku-centric. Spoilers for the ending of KH2.

Written for the lyric-prompt found here.

He moved out not long after they returned to the islands. Needed a place where his mother didn't wear that smile just for him and his father didn't check in on him every night when he thought he was sleeping. Didn't need their cloying, careful love, hidden and not hidden because too much might scare him away and not enough might mean he left again. Too late for that.

He took a hut down near the beach and made it his own. Nothing special. Three rooms: bedroom, bathroom, kitchen-diner and a porch with steps down to the sand for Sora to sit on and Kairi to lay down her towel and sunbathe. He supposes that they make the place a home, with Kairi's laughter and Sora's stupid pranks. He likes them here because then it's not empty on the outside even if it's empty on the inside.

But night comes round and they have to leave because it's still too early for them to be gone from their families every night. "Give it time," Sora says. "They'll get used to us being back soon and they'll stop worrying again. Then we can come round every night."

--You could come round every night now-- Riku thinks, but he doesn't say it because the emotion behind it feels too much like the darkness.

--Just say no, and leave like I did-- But he doesn't say that either, because he's not like them at all and they all know it.

Instead he lies in the darkness of his room and listens to the beating of his heart mirroring the roll and rush of the waves. If he concentrates on that pulse of life it's almost like everything's okay again. He drifts, skirting along the edges of sleep, and as the night falls around his little house the day's heat slips away. The timbers creak in response, settling against each other and in his half-sleep it sounds like footsteps. In the darkness he can hear voices whispering and they're soft, sibilant, calling to him. He's halfway to reaching out when he realises who it is and the flash of gold and silver makes him thrash and twist away.

It takes longer than it should to realise he's awake again and the darkness coiling around his arms is the just the bed sheet and the voice in his ear is just the crash of the breakers on the beach.

He ends up on the floor in the darkness, on his knees, just like he always is.

Title: In dreams
Word Count: 232
Rating: PG-13
(anything else): Kairi-centric. Written for the prompt "Suicidal".

***CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE KH2 AND KH2 FINAL MIX SECRET ENDINGS***

Written for the prompt: "Suicidal" with the pairing Female Soldier/Kairi.

It's in dreams that she appears, reflected and strange like mirrors placed at odd angles to one another. There's a haze about her, half-lit and cloying, so that the only thing Kairi knows is the leap of details -the flash of eyes, the fall of hair- and the caress of skin on skin.

Soft lips press against her collarbone, drift down her neck and across her breasts, and her finger coil in hair that reflects the sky back at itself. There was a name once that she whispered into the darkness; a plea and an adoration, an exultant alleluia. But it's gone now, flickering away too fast for her eyes to follow.

Kairi dreams of warmth and light, and arms that hold a strength their size belies. She thinks -one day, I will be like this- but it's confusing and strange because sometimes it feels like it might already be so.

And the dream always ends the same way; in darkness and sorrow and desperation. Kairi reaches and the eyes that look back at her are full of a resolve that stands alone in the darkness and knows that from here it can only fall.

--Don't do this--I have to--there's no way to win--I know--

I love you

And when she wakes there is nothing left but the memory of her eyes and the echo of an alleluia already fading.

Really? Well, I'm glad it was fun. I hate getting those pairings that I don't like or have no idea what to do with, so I try not giving them out. x_x

I did like it. I really did. <3<3
