Challenge: [107] Savvy
Title: intrusive
Word Count: 277
Spoilers: KHII
Notes: A long time ago, I wrote a Pirates of the Caribbean cyberpunk AUthat I should really finish. Knowledge of that universe certainly isn't needed here, but this is where the drabble's coming from.
Rating: PG
This time, it's not the MCP who tries to hack into the OS.
Tron intercepts the invasive signal, twines it back into itself like a luminous (in)animate snake. Sora watches him, blue eyes electric.
"What are you doing?"
Tron's hands brush all over the worm's surface. Pluck a glittering green orb from near its eyeless head. He examines it. Turns to the data unit next to him - hands spiderwebbing across the keyboard, face intent on the screen.
"Tracing back for a valid IP. There must be a source."
White scrolling words chase each other on black until they become fuzzy snow. The audio hisses on.
"Pardon the intrusion, gentlemen. I didn't think anyone would be here to mind the critter." The male voice is cultured, the accent unplaceable. "He was only helping me find what I ought not've misplaced."
"We haven't the best of luck with keeping people out of Ansem's system," Sora responds. He is reminded of someone (he cannot say whom).
A crackling laugh. "I see. Understandable. Bad experiences make us all the more savvy, do they not?"
Because he is kind, because he is curious, Sora asks, "What were you looking for?"
An assault of images. The endless ocean, bluer than the sky and twice as vast. A gaping maw, despair and darkness and teeth in its depths. The lady figurehead of a ship weeping from a broken heart, tears to form wave and tide and storm around her. A treasure chest, old and burnished and thumping with life. And a skeleton key, long since gone.
The voice is now more sigh than sound. "Aye, a heart's a terrible thing to be losing."

Date: 2007-05-30 08:30 am (UTC)It's very likely I can crank out some more ALT + F4 soon since summer's coming up (more free time!) and that's high on my list of things to do
I do have an ending planned, but I'll probably be changing things around to incorporate events and characters introduced in DMC and AWE. It's been odd rereading the old installments, since it's been such a long time (5 years, I was 16 - feels like forever!) that I don't recognize it. Also, everything's really different in tone than the recent KH stuff I've done. I was probably a better writer back then. ^_____^
