Challenge: 112. enchantment
Title: Nothing Wrong With A Little Education
Word Count: 449
Notes: As soon as this idea came to me, I got really embarrassed--after all, this was the first thing to pop into everyone's mind, right? At least, I figured out where I think the inspiration for the challenge came from. But somehow I liked how it went, so here's to a vein of unoriginality, crossovers for which I deserve to be shot... and wonderfully awkward situations.

 

The first surprise of the day was the fact that, instead of arriving in the room as the Superior had said, the black tendrils deposited him in front of a dingy looking bar. He then had to walk (yes, walk) up a road that seemed to lead on forever, until finally he plopped down, completely out of breath, on the shore of some huge lake in front of the castle.

"Shoulda sent Vexen," he grumbled to himself. "The guy could use the exercise..."

Anyway, he was already sick of the stupid assignment, in the stupid world, with the stupid castle with its stupid ugly statues, and the stupid new Nobody that was supposed to be 'arriving shortly', and the stupid... well, okay, the lake was nice.

And that girl wasn't half bad, either.

She was dressed kinda like him, but she wasn't quite as pale, and her eyes reminded him of--of all people--Axel, but she was smiling, and that was a good sign.

"Hi," she said kindly, extending a hand to help him up."My name is Lily. The Headmaster sent me to get you."

"Oh," Demyx was puzzled. "Ah... I'm--"

"Don't worry, Lumaria, they've already told me about you. It must be fascinating to transfer here from America."

"Eh... right," he mumbled.

And she started to explain a whole bunch of things that he didn't honestly understand, but he figured it'd be great if he just smiled and nodded, and that worked out great. Until, that is, that one kid with the messy black hair showed up. Suddenly the girl looked frustrated... no, furious was a better word.

"What is he--the nerve of that jerk..." she muttered, momentarily that Demyx was there. The Nobody hadn't heard such murderous growling since one of his Water Clones had collided with Zexion's favorite bookshelf.

"Um... is something wrong?" he asked carefully.

"I... no..." And then her Axel-like eyes lit up in a strange way. "Sorry," she said hastily.

And then she grabbed him and planted on him the biggest, best kiss of Demyx's unlife.

He could see out of the corner of his eye that the black-haired boy stopped dead, turned funny shades of red and white, and then stormed back into the castle. As soon as he disappeared, Lily released Demyx.

"I'm so sorry," she said quickly, looking rather red herself. "It's just that I can't stand that boy, and--"

"It's fine," he assured her, though he still felt a little drunk from the kiss. "Really, really fine."

And still mumbling apologies and explanations, she led him into the looming halls of the castle.

Come to think of it, he always did like high school.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I seriously felt stupid when I'm like... "Oh. Wait. The theme is Enchanted, and the world is in HP mania... OOOOOoooooh." Yeah.

Someone says enchanted first thing I think of is fairies. Sometimes inanimate objects but generally I head into fairytale land. So this was one of the things where I went 'oooh I would never have thought of that!' xD Now I'm in the mood for KH/HP crossovers.

The horror... What's quite sad is that KH and HP are the two things that I'm sure have been crossed over with just about everything, so seeing them intersect is just short of canon. My friend Kya and I are plotting a KH/Hogan's Heroes crossover... with Nazi Heartless... sigh.

...I think that is a beautiful, beautiful idea. xD Perhaps I should get off the topic of crossovers though because I'm starting to wonder if it would be plausible for Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel to have gone Disney world hoping. This I believe is a Sign That I Should Go And Do Something Sensible.

I think enchantment tends to pull more strongly on fairy tales. I think those've got a stronger association, maybe.

I didn't know what to make of the bar. The castle made me think Beauty and the Beast. The lake threw me. I figured it out when Lily was named. Wow. Amusing. Now there is a potential crossover crack!pairing. XD

Is Lumaria definitely Marluxia's Other's name or is it fanon? Just curious.

It's just fanon, but it's the first thing that came to mind. The way I see it, he had a very eccentric mother. And his best subject was herbology.

Marilau is another name I've seen for him. There's a few possibilities for all of the Nobody names (well, six whose original names we're not given). Is Nomura trying to drive us nuts with character names? I sense that that may be a stupid question. *scolds hyper brain*

LOLOL, very fun XD Demyx in the potterverse is very cute. Interesting, that you chose to place him in the Marauder-era as opposed to Trio-era. Why was that, out of curiosity?

I'm incredibly fond of the Marauders and the strained relationship between Lily and James...

What I'd like to say is that it could be plausible, that Voldemort could arguably manipulate Heartless and Nobodies at the height of his strength the first time around, along with giants and the like, and he gets beaten up by children enough. But the more honest answer is that it just made the most sense to me: Lily was the sweet defender of the helpless (Snape), she had the motive, and I picture her as being incredibly beautiful. So of course Demyx (with Marluxia in tow) would go skipping home, chirping about how he'd made out with a hottie.

I'm addicted to the marauders; they're arguably my favorite characters in HP (Snape included), so I totally sympathize with your want to slip some KH characters in there!

It's a really intriguing idea, to have Voldy in control of Heartless. I'd never take on that project personally, but boy would it be fun to write/read XD

...also I want to see Demyx squeeing about getting made out with XD
