OMG, I am so sorry that this is late, but I'm sick, and this is the first chance I've gotten to type it up... So, ahem. Here it is.
Theme: Call Me, Call Me
Title: Ocean Tide
Pairing: Riku/Sora
Word Count: 392
*----*----*
I close my eyes, and I keep seeing things…
Laughter filled the air, a variety of happiness so that the voices harmonized almost perfectly together. Except that there was one note to the music that kept it from being heavenly. And that was his laughter. Baritone and silky… Pleasant…
Sora smiled at his friends, laughter fading, its cheerful notes dying away until there was nothing but piercing silence. A moment later and his smile wilted, slipping into a wistful frown. He sighed softly, gazing at the distant horizon as the sun set, casting pale pinks and reds and darker purples and oranges against the sky. And the few stars that were beginning to glitter… They were just like his eyes.
I always feel like he’s with me. Like he’ll keep appearing at any moment, smirking and telling me that I was stupid for worrying. This world just isn’t the same without him…
The water was sucking at his feet, at the sand so that it fell away in glimmering particles, carried away by the ocean waves. Moonlight sparkled briefly on the water’s surface before the tide rolled in and crashed against his legs again, distorting the soft glow.
Sora watched the stars, knowing that he was out there somewhere. And he never breathed his name…because he feared that if he did, everything that was barely hanging in a dream-like state with fragile threads…would be snipped away. Then it would be real. All of it. And he couldn’t bear the…thought of it.
He placed a hand over his heart, fingers clutching, and sighed.
Everyone tells me to forget about him… But… I don’t know how. And even if I did, I… I don’t… I don’t want to! I don’t want to let our memories go! They’re too good to just be set free…
Laughter… Full, and loud, and deep, and musical… Eyes…glimmering mischievously, beautifully, like the stars up in the night sky.
Come back to me… Tell me it’ll be all right…
…All right…
… …Please… …
Sora collapsed to his knees in the water, causing it to spray up and shine in the moonlight bathing his slender form. He gritted his teeth, squeezing his eyes shut as tears began to slip down his cheeks, and he buried his face in his hands.
...Please…
… …Please… …
