Title: We'll Go Together
Rating: G
Word Count: 543
Spoilers: KH2. LOTS of KH2.
Summary: You can't really separate Roxas from Sora.
As he fades, he wonders if the other boy behind the glass will remember him, if he’ll have his own memories, somewhere deep inside that other’s consciousness. He’s told himself, over and over, my heart is my own, I’m ME, I’m not this other guy, and despite what dreams and the mysterious people he’d run into had told him, he clung tightly to that belief until the very end.
Sora was briefed in Yen Sid’s tower about the current situation – the heartless, the nobodies, Pete, the Organization. He knew what he had to do. The new clothes were a nice bonus, even though the second keyblade had come as a surprise (oddly enough, it didn’t feel WEIRD or unfamiliar or anything). Sora saluted and said, with confidence “Me, you guys, Riku and the King… with the five of us – I mean, six of us – there’s nothing to worry about. Right?”
Donald and Goofy exchanged glances. If Kairi was back on the islands, who was number six?
It was actually pretty unimpressive, especially when you considered how easily the weird guy with the blue instrument and the water powers went down. His cue cards and whining and been weird too, and if it hadn’t been for the fact that this guy had stolen the Olympus Stone, he wouldn’t even have been a blip on Sora’s radar. But as he faded into the dark portal he created, he pleaded, “Roxas, come back to us.” Sora knew for certain that the weirdo was referring to him, but… his name wasn’t Roxas.
“Hey, it’s Hayner and the other guys!” Goofy said, beaming. Sora was more focused on the fact that it was obviously Riku who had given him the box with the photograph and the ice cream (which Donald was eating). “But… who’s this guy?” Goofy asked, pointing to the blond, solemn-faced boy standing behind Olette.
Sora recognized him immediately. “This is Roxas.”
He beat the other kid with the keyblades, Oblivion and Oathkeeper (and wasn’t Oathkeeper HIS keyblade anyway?), beat him fair and square, with a final slash. As the kid staggered away, Sora realized, in a flash, exactly who he was fighting. Blue eyes met blue eyes, and for once, Roxas smiled. “You know? You make a good other.”
And finally, all that stood between Sora and victory was Xemnas. Saix had parted from the world, calling him Roxas, just like every other member of the Organization. Sora turned to Riku and the rest. “I don’t get it,” he said with a confused frown. “Why does everyone keep calling me Roxas?”
“Because, Sora,” Riku said quietly. “Roxas is your nobody.”
And then, standing on the Altar of Naught, before he can return home with Kairi, Roxas appears before him, next to Namine. That’s when the names, the voice in the back of his head (that was his and not his), the second keyblade, the feeling of other that Sora could not quite put his finger on, it crashes down on Sora. Blue eyes smile back at him before vanishing back into his own body, and for a minute he hears Roxas’s angry voice – “My heart belongs to ME!”
Sora places his hand over his heart, and thinks quietly to Roxas, “No. It belongs to us.”

i digress, this was good. :)

Right?” I admit, that threw me at first too, because you just come out of Roxas-mode as I like to call it. Then I had a flashback to the waking up part, and figured he was talking about the cricket. :p would have been cooler if he meant Roxas though. ^^
Your description of Demyx, lol!

I feel kind of ashamed for not realizing Sora might have meant Roxas when he said "The six of us". I always just rather thought Sora was bad at math. Hahah.
Anyway, very nice storytelling of the Sora/Roxas bits of the game!
This is kind of random, but I also really liked your characterization of Riku. He only had one line, and you hit his sort of quiet understanding bang on.
Mucho love. :)
