I stand alone in the storm.
Apr. 24th, 2005 05:05 pmChallenge: Rain
Title: Listen to the Rain
Word Count: 371 (Without Lyrics: 306)
Note: This drabble takes place approximately between Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts 2. I used lyrics from Evanescence's song Listen to the Rain as it was very fitting. This is also my first post. Enjoy!
Rain. It was always raining here now -- raining in a place that was once considered a tropical paradise; their home. The clouds swirled above the chain of islands, lightning occasionally streaking through the sky to strike the ground in a spectacular show of light. Many people had moved away, believing that Destiny Islands would never be the same again...
But one girl loyally stayed, standing on the wave torn beach and gazing out to the distant horizon. In her heart a song sings of loneliness and longing. She stands there every day, on the beach of the play island, waiting for them to return to her. The endless rain pours down on her but she stays. 'They will come back. He promised..'
Please don't let go!
Can't we stay for awhile?
It's just too hard to say goodbye.
Thunder boomed overhead. Another storm had settled in over the town. The water dripped out of overflowing gutters and made miniature rivers in the streets. People frantically scrambled to get inside and out of the wet. Thunder boomed.
Down the street walked a cloaked figure. Unique silver hair was plastered to his face; a strip of black cloth was tied over his eyes. A sigh escapes the boy and he looks up, letting the rain cascade over his body. His journey was not complete. They was waiting.
I stand alone in the storm.
Suddenly sweet words they come:
"Hurry!" they say, "for you haven't much time!
Sora ran. The skies had opened up and the rain had begun to fall in a merciless downpour. He had pulled his hood over his already soaked hair but the thin material wasn't working well. Glittering sapphire eyes darted around for shelter of some sort when his gaze locked upon a rather large tree. Smiling inwardly, he made his way under the tree and shook out his hair. Sora sat down and leaned against the tree, hugging his knees to his chest. As he began to nod off, his words came flooding back, 'I'll come back for you, I promise!"
"Just remember to
"Listen to the Rain."
